KNOWLEDGE ECONOMY
ENTREPRENEURSHIP TEAM
11/21/06
Next Steps/Actions
I. Identify and Develop Communications among Existing Entrepreneurship Programs,
People and Activities within OSU Extension, OARDC, ATECH, OSU, etc.
A. Create our own internal network for the KE Entrepreneurship Team– Rick
1. Set up an organizational/informational/communication network through
Go BIG Network (gobig.com)
B. Create our own internal/external knowledge base – Greg, Jerry & Myra
1. Conduct a survey to gain information
a. Who to survey:
· Start with identified names and programs (see attached inventory)
· Contact each person by phone when survey sent out
(need volunteers to do this)
· Ask each person who else they would suggest for survey–other persons
doing entrepreneurship activities/programs:
“Here is the list of people we have identified…
is there anyone else we should add?”
b. What to ask (initial thoughts):
· Seek their understanding of the KE and what they are
doing in with entrepreneurship in this area:
This is what you are already doing to work in this area–if you are,
what is it you are doing? Will you share this with your peers?
· Ask how and who they connect with; and how and who they engage with
– understand their networks and how they function
· Ask about their level of interest in our initiative– would they be willing to
work with us? Where do they want to fit on a “continuum of
involvement” from little to a lot:
Willing to work with us as a partner/team member?
Interested in being a resource/referral for other people and programs?
Interested in being on our “mailing list”?
· Do they use an evaluation tool in their programs? What feedback do
they receive from participants?
2. Put a summary of the survey results on the KE Website and find other
ways to share it with peers/partners (?) – Rick
II. Inform our Peers in Extension about the KE Initiative and the Entrepreneurship Team – Greg & Jennifer
A. Create a brochure/handout to be distributed at Annual Conference
(would include entire initiative with panels for each individual team
B. Get Bill Grunkemeyer on Keith Smith’s agenda for a 5 minute presentation of the KE Initiative
III. Provide training/educational venues for Extension peers – Tony, Jennifer, Rick and Myra
A. Possible topics
1. How to work with entrepreneurs
2. Helping entrepreneurs to capture benefits from KE
3. How to incorporate KE into our existing entrepreneur programs
4. Networking
5. Other?
B. Possible venues
1. Could include in-services, workshops
2. Pod casts, etc.
